Sharing is caring!

This time of year is always a time for bargain hunting. It's always hard to find what you've been looking for but chances are if you look hard enough they're there...

So, I don't know about all of you (all 2 of you) but this season I've been looking for knives. The knives in my kitchen are so dull they can barely cut a peach. Seriously. They're that dull (and rusty!). In order to cut you have to viciously jab at whatever it is you're trying to cut before the knife will penetrate. In my knife search I've come across the famous J.A. Henckels knives. They're quite expensive (running well over $300 for a set) but they have their "International" line which is much cheaper.

I'm dirt poor so even their International line stretches my pockets thin BUT Friday and Sat, if you shop from 6AM - 1PM at Macy's, this set goes from $117 to $59.99. That's pretty cheap. I was hoping I could use those Macy's coupons for 20% off but unfortunately the coupon doesn't work on the sale day AND on Henckels (jerks). It's a pretty good deal and even though the knives are from their cheaper line, I'm sure they can cut better than the knives in my house.

I fully encourage everyone to take advantage of such a cheapo deal just leave me a set! If not... I will cut you with my dull (and rusty!) knives... and remember, I have to viciously jab...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :D

Mythical, magical, it's...

Guess where I went about two weeks ago. Forgive the late post, but I assume no one really reads so no one notices :)

Anyhoo-- posted below are some photos of a place. Can you guess where it is?

guess where i went...

guess where i went...

guess where i went...

guess where i went...

guess where i went...

guess where i went...

guess where i went...

The answer?

No where. I'm pretty sure this place doesn't exist and I dreamed the whole thing. As for the photos, somehow I managed to take my camera with me into dreamland. This place was too good to be true! All the food was fresh... they had pre-seasoned, gourmet food.. fresh, delicious buffet style food, beers from everywhere, cookware galore, etc etc... it was a food lover's paradise. I think I want to take my honeymoon here. Sigh, I hope I get to go back one day, some day....

(Okay, it's Wegman's!)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope all had a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving!

Mine was off the hizzay. Ok, sort of. Or not. Or maybe...

Ok, it depends on how you look at it.

Brief overview of the day:

  • Not enough chairs for the amt of people in attendance
  • Stuffing is forgotten on shopping list, no stuffing present for dinner... people care
  • Cranberry sauce is also forgotten... no one cares (but me)
  • New oven sets on fire (turkey is safe... and delicious!)
  • New oven gets horribly charred inside
  • Smoke alarm sets off; brother's girlfriend fans alarm as we scramble to open windows and such
  • Yelling/anger ensue
  • Raw pecan pie is consumed
  • Smoke alarm goes off again; brother's girlfriend fans fire alarm again
  • Indifference ensues
  • Relatives and friends visit to eat delicious dessert from Balthazar
  • Self cleaning of oven reveals... horrible charring of oven is mostly gone!
  • Manicure + House marathon session until 3 am
  • Sleep

Ahhh the memories... If only we had took many photos to chronicle the chaos... or a video. This was definitely one of my family's more interesting Thanksgiving days...

How about you? :)

My, am me.

I just got back from a trip using money I don't even have (thank you credit card).

During the weeks leading up to the trip I was stressing over the fact I have no money to go on the trip. I mean seriously, I have no money. I had work cut down my hours so I could study for my exit exam (which I passed! :D) which leaves me with pretty much nothing to spend after you factor in regular charges like cell phone bills and that gym membership I never use (among other things)....

Anyhoo, I was stress, stressing because that's what I do. Even at the airport I was stress, stressing. You would think I'd stop stressing by the time I got to the airport because it's the point of no return, but no I kept on going. Prior to the trip, everyone had told me the trip would be fun and I didn't need to worry. "Just have fun!" "Don't worry about it!" blahblahblah. (Easy for you to say people, you have money...) I couldn't shut my mind down. Before going on the trip I had psychically predicted the potential price tags I would encounter:

Checking in the bags: -$15 (if the first one wasn't free, which it wasn't)
Magazine: -$4.00
Drink: -$2.50
Cookies: -$2.00
Coffee: -$4

Luckily I had ate before going to the airport so I wasn't hungry. I didn't need to check in my bag because I have mastered the art of packing long ago. No need for the magazine, I brought a book. No to the coffee because $4 for coffee is ridiculous.... it's hot water filtered through a roasted, ground up bean- why does it need to cost that much?! I wasn't going to get the drink and cookies but became convinced by a friend that in the 4 hours it would take us to land I'd probably get hungry (she was probably right).

"Your total is $5.01.", the cashier said.

I stressfully handed her $5 thinking I could live without the drink and cookies, this $5 could go toward something else (like my bills!)... was it too late to ditch the food and run, fleeing with my arms flailing for dramatic effect? She took my money and waved her other hand to pardon me from the $0.01 I owed her. Good, I thought, I saved a penny. I walked away and finally glanced at my receipt:

Total              $4.50
CASH           $5.00
Change          $0.50

WTF? As if I'm not broke enough already, that ***** had to steal $0.50? Every penny was counting for me at that moment (every penny does when you stress about money) and I wanted to go back (mainly for the principle) but I figured maybe she needs it more than me.

I tend to stress eat so I opened up my cookies to get sweet, unhealthy satisfaction and bitterly popped open my apple juice. I hated them for costing money. When I put the lid of my drink down on my lap my lid screamed at me what everyone had been saying:

relax

Was I so unnecessarily stressed that my apple juice needed to start giving me advice too? It was like a slap in the face to just relax and enjoy the ride... And so with that I relaxed....

Until the day we got back from the trip.
Holy goodness my cc bill is ridiculous (and that doesn't even include the airfare and hotel).

Back to stressing... and no beverage can tell me otherwise.

Oh Kanye...

I was just talking about this yesterday with a co-worker... Kanye has been known to be a brat for losing award shows. So I found it hysterical when I found this SNL skit:

It's nice to see Kanye has a sense of humor.

yeah..

Random posts go well with random thoughts like wine and cheese.

Google is great. I love their little feed on the top of my e-mail. I get updates on the latest Colbert videos, strange news stories, and the word of the day.

On that note, I'd like to say I'm especially frowzy today.

On another, completely unrelated note, I applied for a Virgin America credit card. There aren't many places where they fly to but I must say that I love that airline. I just find them so fun and simple (and tastefully tacky at times). If you've never flown with them and you happen to be going to any of their destinations I'd recommend them.
Here is an example of VA's cute features:

Seat-to-seat chatting
Seat-to-seat chat

You can chat with your fellow passengers at your discretion. Granted, no one really uses this but it's a great feature if you're traveling in a group and happen to all be seated separately.

This console is also great for ordering in-flight food or playing the silly games they have for kids. (Yes, I played them. Don't judge me.)

The TV/movie feature is good too. There were many channels to choose from (although, I think jetBlue may have a better selection) and I was surprised to find they had foreign movies available to watch for free.

Going back to the cc, if you apply before November 30th (2008) you get a free one-way flight (perfect for those moving/running away). (That's how they suckered me in to apply...)

Hopefully, VA adds more destinations... if not, I guess I'll be making a bunch of trips to Cali and Vegas! ;)

Wow... what irresponsibility.

Today marks the first second day that I've been grossly irresponsible with money.

It was okay the first time because I could simply return my purchase and take a small hit. This second purchase is non-refundable and to be honest, WTF is wrong with me?

I hate money and I hate worrying about it... so I guess I won't. Things will work themselves out... I hope.

I'm classy, son.

opulence

I live in opulence.

mess

My room is a giant mess.  My windows don't even have curtains or shades. Those are pillowcases people, pillowcases.

My room is a work in progress. I hate how having a messy room/house/anything messes with your psyche (or maybe it just messes with OCD-tendency me). When I go to sleep I can't seem to sleep as peacefully as I do when my room is absolutely spotless. Someone once told me the cleanliness of your space is a reflection of your inner self. I almost feel like that's true because right now... I feel like a complete mess.

I'm hoping that by the end of November (or even Thanksgiving) everything will be nice and clean bringing me a step closer to fixing my own personal messes.
And yes, that's right. It's 3:40+ in the morning and I'm awake.

what's a blog?

I haven't blogged in about 5 months.

It feels so long ago that I can barely recall what it's like to have a blog. I'm not sure what made me want to create this blog (I think it's largely due in part to Ms. Gshok), yet here it is.

I hope all five of you people who read this aren't expecting anything interesting because you're not going to find it here.
